Here’s how to say “Happy New Year” in Chinese, and the meanings behind it!
Happy Chinese New year, everyone, I wish you a new year full of joy and prosperity!
As we all know, this year is the year of the monkey! The fire monkey to be exact! The monkey was the 9th zodiac sign, as goes to legend, was the 9th animal to be assigned a year on the calendar. Click the links above to learn more about the monkey and the zodiac.
There are different elements, wood; fire; earth; metal; and water that each of the 12 zodiacs has. Each element has a different association.

- Earth contains metal.
- Metal carries water (buckets, pipes, etc.).

Chinese New Year, February 8th, woo hoo! Yes, I know Chinese New Year would have been yesterday for China because that side of the Prime Meridian is a day ahead, but let’s make a post about it for the people on the other side! ;P
My family celebrates Chinese New Year and we have lots of fun. There’s an organization we go to and celebrate with all the other kids with a huge amount of food and Chinese games! In my about page, I mention being Japanese, but truth is, I am both Chinese and Japanese. Don’t question me. xD Although, this year, I don’t think we’ll be participating with the organization, but we’ll still celebrate as our small family. 🙂 I hope for a great year and a successful one at that!
Anyways, even for those of you who aren’t Chinese, you must know of the existence of Chinese New Year I hope! And if you don’t celebrate it, I wish you all a good day!
